Unless selecting a vari-focal camera (with an adjustable lens) It is important to select the correct camera lens option for where the camera is to be positioned. A smaller lens will give you a wider angle but will be "zoomed out more", while a bigger lens will narrow the angle down and "zoom in more". See below to give you some idea on angles of Megapixel HD Cameras:

The amount of hard drive space you require is dictated by how many cameras, as well as their resolution and frame rate settings. Finally you can often make your storage space last a lot longer by enabling motion detected recording rather than continuous, especially if there are long periods of no activity.

As a rule of thumb we recommend a minimum of 2 Terabytes per 4 x 2-4MP HD cameras, as this should give you 2 weeks to a month with a few adjustments on motion detected recording. You may only require the full 25 frames per second on certain cameras if things are fast moving.

The Dahua NVR4108-8P-EI is part of the powerful WizSense EI Series, designed to provide intelligent video management, advanced AI functionality, and simplified installation through its integrated 8-port PoE switch. Supporting up to 8 IP camera channels and a maximum incoming, recording, and outgoing bandwidth of 256 Mbps (180 Mbps with AI functions enabled), the recorder is capable of handling demanding high-resolution surveillance systems, including cameras up to 16MP. The built-in 8-port PoE switch allows cameras to be powered and connected directly to the recorder, eliminating the need for a separate PoE switch in many installations. Each PoE port supports IEEE 802.3af/at standards, making deployment simpler and more cost-effective. The NVR incorporates Dahua's WizSense AI technology, providing recorder-based face detection, face recognition, perimeter protection, and SMD Plus. The face recognition system supports up to 10 face databases containing up to 20,000 face images, enabling rapid identification and intelligent forensic searches. When paired with compatible Dahua AI cameras, the recorder supports additional AI functions including human and vehicle classification, people counting, stereo analysis, heat mapping, ANPR, and intelligent perimeter analytics.
