Unless selecting a vari-focal camera (with an adjustable lens) It is important to select the correct camera lens option for where the camera is to be positioned. A smaller lens will give you a wider angle but will be "zoomed out more", while a bigger lens will narrow the angle down and "zoom in more". See below to give you some idea on angles of Megapixel HD Cameras:

The amount of hard drive space you require is dictated by how many cameras, as well as their resolution and frame rate settings. Finally you can often make your storage space last a lot longer by enabling motion detected recording rather than continuous, especially if there are long periods of no activity.

As a rule of thumb we recommend a minimum of 2 Terabytes per 4 x 2-4MP HD cameras, as this should give you 2 weeks to a month with a few adjustments on motion detected recording. You may only require the full 25 frames per second on certain cameras if things are fast moving.

The Dahua NVR4204-EI is part of the WizSense EI Series and is a higher-performance 4-channel network video recorder designed for professional intelligent surveillance systems requiring greater storage capacity and AI processing capability. It supports up to 4 IP camera channels with an incoming, recording, and outgoing bandwidth of up to 256 Mbps (reduced to 180 Mbps when AI functions are enabled), making it suitable for high-resolution multi-camera installations, including cameras up to 16MP. A key advantage of this model is its dual SATA hard drive support, allowing installation of up to two HDDs (up to 20 TB each depending on configuration). This provides significantly greater storage flexibility compared to smaller EI recorders. The recorder includes advanced AI functionality such as face detection, face recognition, perimeter protection, and SMD Plus at recorder level. When used with compatible Dahua AI cameras, it also supports human and vehicle classification, people counting, heat map generation, and stereo analysis. The face recognition system supports up to 10 face databases containing up to 20,000 face images, enabling intelligent identification, comparison, and rapid search across recorded footage.
