Unless selecting a vari-focal camera (with an adjustable lens) It is important to select the correct camera lens option for where the camera is to be positioned. A smaller lens will give you a wider angle but will be "zoomed out more", while a bigger lens will narrow the angle down and "zoom in more". See below to give you some idea on angles of Megapixel HD Cameras:

The amount of hard drive space you require is dictated by how many cameras, as well as their resolution and frame rate settings. Finally you can often make your storage space last a lot longer by enabling motion detected recording rather than continuous, especially if there are long periods of no activity.

As a rule of thumb we recommend a minimum of 2 Terabytes per 4 x 2-4MP HD cameras, as this should give you 2 weeks to a month with a few adjustments on motion detected recording. You may only require the full 25 frames per second on certain cameras if things are fast moving.

The Haydon HAY-RJ45GR5MCAT5 is a premium-quality CAT5e RJ45 Ethernet patch lead engineered to provide reliable network connectivity for professional CCTV, IT and structured cabling installations. Supplied in a pack of five, each 5-metre grey patch lead is ideal where greater cable reach is required between network devices whilst maintaining a neat and organised installation.
Manufactured using 26 AWG stranded conductors, the cable provides excellent flexibility whilst delivering consistent network performance. Each lead is terminated with industry-standard 8P8C RJ45 modular connectors, making it suitable for connecting network switches, routers, patch panels, IP cameras, NVRs, computers, printers, VoIP telephones, access control systems and other Ethernet-enabled devices. The cable follows the recognised EIA/TIA-568B wiring standard, ensuring full compatibility with standard Ethernet infrastructures.
Each connector incorporates gold-plated contacts to minimise signal loss and contact resistance, helping maintain reliable data transmission over extended periods. The integrated moulded snagless strain-relief boot protects the locking tab during installation and removal whilst providing additional cable support for improved durability in demanding environments.
